Give a Voice Challenge

The Nitty Gritty Details

When women work together, they can change the world for the better.
That change starts by giving a voice to our future women leaders.
How the Challenge Works:
1 - A sorority, or fraternity for women, challenges the other sororities on their campus to the Give a Voice Challenge.

2 - Each participating chapter receives a welcome packet detailing the four rounds of the challenge.

  • Round 1: Introduction* and Heroine Bingo
  • Purpose: Introduce the concept of the everyday heroine and explore the opportunities available to women today.
  • Challenge: Succeed in getting a ‘BINGO’ on the provided cards by finding and talking to women in the different occupations listed.
  • Round 2: Honor an Everyday Heroine
  • Purpose: Introduce the world to a woman in your community who inspires you.
  • Challenge: Present your everyday heroine with a certificate from the HoH Alliance and use your creativity to explain through video, pictures, or written words why she is an inspiration.
  • Round 3: Give Back to Your Community
  • Purpose: Learn how the small steps taken by one person are magnified exponentially when combined with the steps taken by others.
  • Challenge: Work together with the other participating sororities on your campus to collect goods and/or volunteer time to benefit your community.
  • Round 4: Declare Your Place in the Future
  • Purpose: Combine the lessons of the past and the present to plan for a brighter future.
  • Challenge: Make a video about how you can and will be everyday heroines.

3 - At the end of the challenge, the chapter with the most points wins and will receive a Heart of a Heroine commemorative award.

This is a challenge where everybody wins!

*Founder, Kat Michels, is available to do the introduction of the program live on your campus for an additional fee.

The Not-So-Fine Print

During the challenge, each registered sorority/fraternity for women will participate in the four parts of the challenge that are listed above. Each chapter will accumulate points for their participation, and the chapter with the most points at the end will receive a Heart of a Heroine commemorative award.

Complete instructions will be provided for each participating chapter the week the challenge begins. The spring 2017 challenge will start on March 31st and feature the heroine Mary Harris Jones, aka “The Most Dangerous Woman in America.” There have to be at least four chapters participating from the same campus to qualify for a challenge. Chapters wishing to participate need to sign up and leave a down payment of $200 no later than February 15th with the remainder of the fee due on March 31st. The participation fee is $500 per participating chapter. If six or more* chapters on one campus sign up for the challenge, the fee drops to $350 per chapter. Official registration begins on January 1, 2017.

Points are earned for completing each of the four rounds of the Challenge. Points are earned as follows:

  • Round 1 - 150 points possible
    • Completion of the Challenge = 100 points
    • Possible Bonus = 50 points
  • Round 2 - 250 points possible

We are so excited to bring The Give a Voice Challenge to life because we believe that when women work together, they can change the world for the better. That change starts by giving a voice, and the confidence to use it, to our future women leaders. This is truly a dream come true for us, and we look forward to expanding the movement with every Challenge that reaches a new campus.

We are thrilled about the possibility of working with you, and we invite you to apply to lead the way in your very own Give a Voice Challenge.

*For campuses that do not have six or more sororities, you can still participate at the $350 level by inviting a sister sorority on different campus to initiate a challenge. If that second campus holds a challenge, then both campuses qualify for the $350 participation fee.
